Clinical Supervision

“One can choose to go back toward safety or forward towards growth. Growth must be chosen again and again; fear must be overcome again and again.”

                                               — Abraham Maslow

When choosing a supervisor or consultant, it is important to consider his or her training as well as the match.  Many professionals offer consultation and supervision but unlike Dr. Stephen, have no actual training in providing these services.

Dr. Stephen first became interested in providing consultation when she was completing her training in clinical supervision while earning her doctorate degree.  The requirements for completing her training in supervision and consultation included extensive reading, classwork, providing clinical supervision, participating in weekly evaluations and a comprehensive final evaluation.  During her training, Dr. Stephen’s skills and effectiveness were closely monitored as her consultation was audiotaped, videotaped, and regularly critiqued by her professor, peers and supervisees.  Currently, Dr. Stephen provides both short and long term clinical consultation on a fee-for-service basis.
